Additional H-2B Visa Availability for FY 2025

Immigration Updates

On November 15, 2024, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced plans, similar to prior years, to make 64,716 additional H-2B visas available for Fiscal Year (FY) 2025. This is in addition to the 66,000 H-2B visas that are available each year by law. The H-2B visa program allows employers to hire noncitizens for temporary, nonagricultural jobs in the U.S. These jobs are temporary in nature, such as for a one-time event, seasonal work, or peak demand periods.

The DHS also stated that, like in previous years, these extra visas will be available early in FY 2025. The allocation of the additional visas will include 20,000 visas set aside for workers from Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Haiti, Colombia, Ecuador, or Costa Rica. The remaining 44,716 visas will be available to workers who have previously held an H-2B visa or were granted H-2B status in one of the past three years.
